Germany made another giant killing in the quarter-final of the World Cup, defeating Argentina by a whopping four goals to nil.
Argentina had been labeled as the favorites for many fans and critics across the world but the hype proved unjustified on today's showing as Germany brushed the Albicelestes aside.
They took the lead in just 3 minutes. An inviting free-kick was headed in by Thomas Mueller to give Germany a shock lead. Argentina pressed hard for the remainder of the first half but failed to break a resolute German back line.
Lionel Messi was clearly Argentina's best player. Every time he got the ball, something happened, but he lacked the usual cutting edge seen from him in a Barcelona shirt.
Miroslav Klose effectively killed the game off in the 68th minute as he tapped in from close range. Germany scored a third through defender Friedrich with another simple tap in.
Germany rubbed salt into the wounds of Argentina as Miroslav Klose finished in style from close range.
Messi and Argentina will be distraught with today's result, but they will look to re-group and hope for a better outing in the next World Cup which takes place in Brazil in 2014.
